You are invited…

July 24th, 2010   •   No Comments

I received an email this week from one of our medicare companies and the subject was “You’re Invited”.  As you know if you have looked at our extensive list of companies, we offer more options than majority of the agents out there.

Now I have now been authorized to offer their next level of plans by one of our companies. Due to the fact that this is not offered to all their agents, I can not mention their name here, but want to say that  I am honored to be recognized and promoted to this exclusive group of agents who seek out the best for their clients.

Not all agents, well let me step back, Not all agents, even most agents that call themselves independent, look out for you more than we do.

You our clients are the ones we work for, and without you we would not have the drive to do what we do!  So this honor is for you our clients!

Much Thanks!

Travis

How to determine the average annual wage

July 14th, 2010   •   No Comments

To qualify for the health tax credit, your business must meet a few different criteria.  One of them relates to the average annual wage of your employees.  Please reference our first post (click here) on the main criteria, but to help calculate the average wage follow the steps below:

  1. Add up the aggregate amount of wages paid by the employer to the employees during the taxable year
  2. Divide this total by the number of full-time equivalent employees for the taxable year
  3. If the number is not an even thousand, round the amount to the nearest $1,000.

There you have it.  Just like this information, there will be more information released in the coming days, months, years.  If you have any questions or need any assistance, please give us a call 816-254-6100.

Inside Edition Investigates sales tactics of some Bankers Life and Casualty Agents

This story makes me sad because I see bad agents like this all the time.  Just want to let you know that you should never be pressured into doing something, and always get a second opinion from an Independent agent who is not controlled by any one company.

Homeowners insurance does not cover flooding!

June 14th, 2010   •   No Comments

Yep, yesterday was a wet one, and if you got water in your basement you are not alone.  I live at the top of a hill and still got water in my newly finished basement.  You don’t even know how mad I was this morning when I went downstairs.  Just yesterday before the storms rolled through we moved our area rugs and couches downstairs, went to bed at 2 am thinking we were safe, woke up with a river running through the middle of everything.

This morning we have had several calls and has made me sad to tell people that the flood insurance they turned down is the coverage that would have taken care of the damages.  Homeowners insurance does not cover flooding, and when a rain storm rolls through, unless the storm tears a hole in your house then floods you out, your not covered.  You have to pick up some flood insurance.

Depending on what flood zone you live in, preferred policies start as low as $119 for the year.

Feel free to call with any questions.

Another One Bites the Dust

For some reason when I hear the term Medicare Advantage, that Queen song “Another One Bites the Dust”  keeps playing on a loop in my head, and yesterday I figured out why.  Yesterday CIGNA announced that it will NOT offer its Medicare Access (PFFS) in 2011. Read more
